چکیده

Scientific advances in the development of video processing algorithms now allow various distributed and collaborative vision-based applications. However, the lack of recognised standard in this area drives system developers to build specific systems, preventing from e.g. content analysis components upgrade or system reuse in different environments. As a result, the need for a generic, context-independent and adaptive system for storing and managing video analysis results comes out as conspicuous. In order to address this issue, we propose a data schemaindependent data warehouse backed by a multiagent system. This system relies on the semantic web knowledge representation format, namely the RDF, to guarantee maximum adaptability and flexibility regarding schema transformation and knowledge retrieval. The storage system itself, namely data warehouse, comes from the state-of-the-art technologies of knowledge management, providing efficient analysis and reporting capabilities within the monitoring system.

Adaptive Spectral Separation Two Layer Coding with Error Concealment for Cell Loss Resilience

This paper addresses the issue of cell loss and its consequent effect on video quality in a packet video system, and examines possible compensative measures. In the system's enconder, adaptive spectral separation is used to develop a two-layer coding scheme comprising a high priority layer to carry essential video data and a low priority layer with data to enhance the video image. A two-step er...

Metadata Modeling for Quality of Service Management in Distributed Multimedia Systems1

In distributed multimedia systems, since multimedia objects are voluminous and unstructured, manipulation, transfer and visualization of such objects can require a lot of time and resources. It then becomes essential to prevent unsatisfactory information delivery. For that purpose, Quality of Service (QoS) management appears as an essential function supplied by distributed multimedia systems to...

Object Tracking and Event Recognition in Biological Microscopy Videos

We present a video analysis and content-based video query and retrieval system for research videos arising from biological microscopy (a) that uses image processing procedures to identify objects and events automatically within the digitized videos, thus leading to the generation of content information (specific intrinsic metadata) of high information value by automated analysis of their visual...

Adding Semantics to Audiovisual Content: The FAETHON Project

This paper presents FAETHON, a distributed information system that offers enhanced search and retrieval capabilities to users interacting with digital audiovisual (a/v) archives. Its novelty primarily originates in the unified intelligent access to heterogeneous a/v content. The paper emphasizes the features that provide enhanced search and retrieval capabilities to users, as well as intelligen...

Reasoning about eLearning Multimedia Objects

The advancement of hypermedia technologies led teachers and learners to a daily use of multimedia components. Media bricks in educational content management have evolved into IEEE LOM eLearning Objects, which combine content with an expressive set of metadata and are structured by a variety of named relations. Such ”eLOs” are nicely suited for self-explorative learning within adaptive hypermedi...
